Too many residents say yes; it’s time to finally clear the air: Linda Annis
Surrey, B.C. (October 12, 2026): Surrey First candidate for mayor Linda Annis says if she is elected on October 17th, she will carry out an immediate anti-corruption review to “clear the air” around persistent questions and rumours about how business is conducted at city hall.
“Our team has knocked on more than 60,000 doors this election, and too many people think there is favouritism and corruption at city hall,” said Annis. “The questions keep coming up on the doorstep and Surrey residents deserve answers one way or the other. There are too many questions, and the rumours have lingered too long to be ignored. People in Surrey need to know the truth, whatever the facts are and wherever the truth leads. As mayor, I want our residents and voters to know we will only operate a clean and honest city, and that starts with clearing the air.”
Annis said persistent rumours and questions about development permits, city land purchases, stop-work orders, by-law favours, procurement, and the firing of Chief Lipinski by Brenda Locke’s handpicked board, persist and need to be addressed.
“Our voters and taxpayers deserve to know that their city and the people running it are honest, fair and put our city first,” added Annis. “They also need to know city procedures and processes are fair and above board.
“A Surrey First city council will ask a retired Supreme Court judge to carry out an independent and fully transparent anti-corruption review in the first 100 days of the new council being sworn in. I want to show our citizens that we take the questions and rumours seriously, and that we are committed to running an honest, open and fair city. If something is wrong, it will be identified and made public. It will be corrected and the people involved will be held accountable.”
